Are you a "Native Christian?"

What is a Native Christian? Native Christian is a funny name that came up during a Bible study last year. We used the term to define people who don't really know why they are "Christian" - - and quite frankly, they most likely are not. They are simply identified with Christianity because of their parents, or because they go to church on the weekend for social activity, or because they want to be the same as others... for a variety of different reasons, they identify themselves as a Christian.

Are YOU a Christian simply because you were born into a Christian household? Have you ever considered what it means to actually be like Christ?

Are you "Christian because your parents are Christians?" Are you a "Christian" because "you were raised in a Christian house?" If someone asked people who know you, what would they say about you? Do you KNOW if you are really a Christian?

How can you really know if you are a Christian?

This blog will be dedicated to the following:

- Spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ

- Determining the difference between a "Native Christian" and a sinner who has been reborn and regenerated to new life

- Discussing and answering questions about Christianity and refuting some common myths and misunderstandings about the Bible

- Addressing problems with other world religions and other cults that claim to be of the Christian Church

- Addressing current social/political issues from a Biblical and Christian world-view

This blog will not do the following:

-Engage in hostile argumentative debate or allow offensive or inappropriate comments. If you are simply here to pick a fight, or if you just want to make rude inappropriate comments, they will be removed immediately and ignored.

I hope you enjoy my blog, for whatever its worth to you, and I although I am no scholar, no professor or high profile pastor, I hope that I can communicate with you all in a direct and effective manner that is edifying to you, and glorifies the Lord!

Thank you, and God Bless!

Prop 8 update...

PROP 8 TO BE UPHELD BY CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT...

It appears as though the will of the people of California will be upheld (at least for now). On Wednesday November 19th, the CA Supreme Court ruled to take original jurisdiction of the three cases that have been filed against Proposition 8, an ammendment to the California Constitution which states that only marraige between a man and a woman will be recognized or valid by the state of California.

This is a refreshing turn in the battle to protect traditional marraige. Last May this same Supreme Court overturned the Novmeber 2000 voter-approved ban on same-sex marraige, which sparked the campaign for Proposition 8 to ammend the State Constitution once and for all.

With the court taking the original jurisdiction, the validity of the ammendment should be decided within months rather than being held up in court for years, according to a press release from the official Prop 8 website (protectmarraige.com.)

VETERAN'S DAY 2008

If you have any family members or friends who are serving in the military, or who are Military Veteran's, please take a moment or two out of your day to give them a call, and thank them for their sacrifice.

It is because of the honorable efforts of so many men and women that we are able to enjoy our freedoms that we are afforded in this country. They have sacrificed their time, effort, families, and in some cases laid down their lives to provide for the common defense, and promote the general welfare for the citizens of the United States.

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement,

"YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
